Oil Changes in Twin Falls, ID — S&D Automotive
An oil change is the single most important thing you can do for your engine's long-term health. Clean oil lubricates, cools, and cleans — degraded oil does none of those things as effectively. At S&D Automotive on Blue Lakes Blvd, we've been doing oil changes in Twin Falls since 1990. We use the right oil for your vehicle, we include a visual inspection with every visit, and we're not going to try to sell you something you don't need.
What We Do During an Oil Change
We don't just drain and fill. Every oil change at S&D includes:
• Drain and replace engine oil to manufacturer-specified grade
• New oil filter
• Check and top off all fluid levels (coolant, power steering, brake fluid, windshield washer)
• Check tire pressure and adjust if needed
• Visual inspection under the hood — belts, hoses, battery terminals
• Visual undercarriage check — we'll note anything that looks off
• Reset oil life monitor if applicable
• Oil change sticker with next service date and mileage
What Type of Oil Does Your Vehicle Need?
We carry and install conventional, synthetic blend, full synthetic, and high-mileage oil:
Conventional oil — suitable for older vehicles with lower mileage and simple engine designs
Synthetic blend — a middle ground for newer engines that don't require full synthetic
Full synthetic — required by most modern vehicles and turbocharged engines; provides the best protection and longest change intervals
High-mileage formula — formulated for vehicles over 75,000 miles with seal conditioners to reduce leaks and consumption
Diesel engine oil — specific formulations required for diesel trucks; see our Diesel Service page
Not sure what your car needs? We'll check the manufacturer spec and use the right oil for your vehicle.
How Often Should You Change Your Oil?
The old 3,000-mile rule applies to conventional oil in older vehicles. If you're running full synthetic in a modern car, the interval is typically 7,500–10,000 miles, and some vehicles go up to 15,000 with the right oil. Your owner's manual has the exact recommendation. We'll also check your oil life monitor if your vehicle has one.

Oil Change FAQ
-
Most oil changes take 30 minutes or less. If we spot something during the inspection that needs attention, we'll let you know — but we won't do anything without telling you first.
-
No. Walk-ins are welcome. That said, calling ahead helps us make sure a bay is available when you arrive.
-
No. As long as the oil meets the viscosity grade specified in your owner's manual, using synthetic is perfectly fine and won't void any warranty.
-
Not necessarily. Oil darkens as it does its job — that's normal. Dark oil isn't the same as dirty or degraded oil. The best guide is your mileage since the last change and your vehicle's recommended interval, not the color.
